President’s Winter Update 2017

Dear SoCal GAPNA members:

The December chapter meeting took place December 1st in the San Diego area.  Manju Beier, PharmD provided an excellent presentation on seizures and new anti-seizure medication, Aptiom.  Chapter members and local NP students enjoyed a very nice dinner supported by Sunovion Pharmaceuticals.  Member Maura Dulski, NP won the raffle gift of a beautiful winter-theme fresh floral centerpiece provided by our chapter.

The SoCal chapter has been busy with planning of a Spring chapter meeting in the San Fernando Valley area as well as the annual Student Night in May.  Details to follow.  Make the most of your GAPNA membership and plan to attend one or both events.  Feel free to invite colleagues and NP students who will graduate this year.

Plan a trip to San Francisco for GAPNA’s 3rd Annual Pharmacology Conference March 24 and 25th.  Included will be a timely session on patient marijuana use so bring your questions for what is sure to be an interesting discussion. The deadline for a $80 discount is fast approaching on January 27th.  And plan now to attend GAPNA’s 36th Annual Conference at the Gaylord Opryland Resort October 4-7, 2017 in Nashville, TN.  Registration for both conferences at www.gapna.org.

As you can see there are many opportunities for you with GAPNA in 2017.

I wish you all a safe, happy, and healthy New Year!

Karen Shore, MSN, ANP-C
