A message from the SoCal Chapter of the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurse Association (GAPNA) 

GAPNA is the premier professional organization for Advanced Practice Nurses working with older adults. 

Board members of the Southern California Chapter GAPNA are currently seeking student Nurse Practitioners who are interested in a position as Student Director at Large.  Positions are designed to foster leadership qualities in the Advanced Practice Nursing student for their own personal professional development. 

The Student Director at Large will act as a liaison between the board and their fellow students with an emphasis on potential membership recruitment to GAPNA.  Candidates should be a current student in either a Master’s or Doctorate Nursing program.  Applicants can expect to make a one-year commitment from August this year to August next year which co-insides with the annual SoCal chapter election. 

The Student Director at Large will be responsible for: 

  1. Reduced-rate Student membership in GAPNA.  See www.gapna.org.  Stipend may be available. 
  1. Availability to participate in a one-hour monthly evening meeting via computer/teleconference with SoCal GAPNA Board members.  These meetings take place approximately 6-8 times over the course of the year. 
  1. Attend the local Annual Nursing Student meeting which takes place in the evening, usually in May upon completion of the semester. 
  1. Attend local chapter meetings as your schedule permits. 
  1. Attend GAPNA’s Annual Conference, if possible.  See www.gapna.org. 

 

The Student Director at Large in an appointed position by the SoCal Chapter GAPNA Board who will review applications prior to appointment.
