Southern California Chapter of GAPNA

Reminder: Nominations due August 12th

Posted over 8 years ago by Debi Onken

It is time to nominate your colleagues who are GAPNA members to our local GAPNA chapter Board of Directors:

1. President-Elect

2. Secretary

3. Treasurer

Advanced Practice Nurses who are not currently members can sign-up at www.gapna.org

Make this the year you get involved with your local GAPNA chapter. There is still time to register for the GAPNA National Conference Sept 30-Oct 3 in San Antonio, Texas.

There are many exciting things planned for the coming year:
1. Dr. Mary Cadogan, current Pres-Elect (soon to be President) is working with the Coalition for Compassionate Care of California www.coalitionccc.org to have our chapter work in partnership to help roll out the new CA law allowing Nurse Practitioners to sign Physician's Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (POLST) for our patients. The bill has already passed the state legislature and is sitting on Governor Brown's desk for signature. Our chapter will be integral to educating all NPs in California regarding their new responsibility with the POLST. Other legislation is pending for the development of a registry for the POLST, very important legislation to assuring desired End of Life care for the geriatric population in California. www.capolst.org

2. With the help of the Leadership Council chapter leaders have been planning the first Annual Southern California Chapter of GAPNA Conference, date tentatively in March 2016. Members willing to help are welcomed.

3. We are looking forward to our 2nd Student Night dinner meeting November 2015.

Please consider a colleague (or yourself) and submit your nomination for the 3 positions listed.

Nominations are due back via email by midnight August 12th to scc.gapna@gmail.com. Thank you for your efforts to promote the high standards for healthcare for older adults.

Sincerely,

SCC-GAPNA Board of Directors
Gloria Craig, President
Mary Cadogan, Pres-Elect
